Overland Park is participating in Bike month by participating in the Bike to Work week, May 13-17. Mayor Carl Gerlach will be signing a proclamation dedicating Bike to Work week on May 6.

Information Booth – Farmers’ Market

Saturday, May 11

To kick off the week, come check out the booth at the Overland Park Farmers’ Market. There will be a display set up and plenty of tips and information from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

All individuals who “Bike to Work” are encouraged to stop for a light breakfast, sponsored by Whole Foods, on your way to work via your bikes.

Bicycle Rodeo

A Bicycle Rodeo is scheduled for May 18, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Shawnee Mission South High school in the northwest parking lot.

There will be eight different stations for kids to learn basic bicycle handling skills and a local bike shop will be available to conduct free safety checks.

Whole Foods has donated kids water bottles for all those who participate.
